FLASHOVER SIMULATOR TRAINING
On October 24, 25 and 26th, personnel participated in live fire training put on by Louisiana State University Fire and Emergency Training Institute (LSU-FETI). This training consisted of a classroom / safety portion that occurred on October 24th and the next two nights consisted on the actual live burns. What is a flashover? Without getting scientific and too specific, a flashover is a condition that occurs when everything in a room ignites at once causing a quick release of the maximum heat potential and happens in a matter of seconds. This condition has caused numerous firefighter deaths across the world. This training allowed for our firefighters to understand what conditions to look for to prevent a flashover from occurring while fighting fires.
