(CLICK FOR PHOTOS) Shortly after 4:15 PM, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 responded to a structure fire in St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District #7 area and provided mutual aid with St. Tammany Fire District # 8 units. The fire occurred on Edgar Kennedy Rd. When units arrived on the scene, they found smoke and flames coming from the home's roof and the second story. Firefighters deployed hose lines and gained access upstairs to begin fighting the fire. They were able to knock down the fire and bring the situation under control.

One resident was at home when the fire started and escaped safely after smelling smoke. The other resident was across the street when the fire occurred.

Unfortunately, the home is a total loss. The American Red Cross of Louisiana has been contacted to provide support.

Thankfully, no injuries occurred as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
